THE HEART BEHIND THE CRUMPETS
Inspired by her mother from a young age, Merna remembers baking being a big part of her childhood.
Completing her apprenticeship at the Park Hyatt in Sydney before working in restaurants here and overseas, Merna decided to follow her passion and build her own crumpets business in 2017.
Merna has built her business from her stall at Carriageworks Farmers Markets in Eveleigh every Saturday. Showcasing her love of crumpets and all things local.
She even mills her own flour through her good friends in Tamworth. True to her dedication to local, her salt is local, milks are local – everything is local. This is her ethos.
Merna’s crumpets are now served in cafes, hotels and restaurants across Australia as well as enjoyed internationally – even on Qantas and Virgin Business and First-Class flights.
